Friday's Weather "Event"
The photo above is from 5 pm MST on Friday, 10 May. There are some high-based virga and light showers over the Catalinas. The highest elevation RAWS sites in southeastern Arizona reported a few hundreths of rainfall on Friday, but basically the "event" was mostly outflow winds and old anvils at lower elevation stations. We drove south on Highway 83 around 7 pm and sky was chaotic with orphan anvils, but little was visible in the way of rain showers. Nothing in the gauge when we returned yesterday evening. The WRF forecast for Friday was quite good (see previous post) - an outflow moved west across the metro area around 5 pm and that was about it for Tucson zone. The rainfall forecast to the east of Tucson may have been over-done by the model.
