Winds Increasing From The East

First, to follow up on several previous wind posts. The above "Weather Story" is the current blurb from the NWS Office over at Los Angeles, regarding the Santa Ana event that had been indicated by the WRF forecasts on the 5.4 km domain.

As for Arizona, the early run of the WRF-GFS from Atmo this morning (Thursday May 2nd) indicates that easterly winds will increase late today, as the backdoor front moves across southeastern Arizona. The forecast of 10-m winds shown above is valid at 4 pm MST this afternoon. During the night winds increase dramatically and reach their strongest tomorrow morning. The forecast below shows 10-m winds valid at 8 am MST tomorrow morning.

Finally, the panel below shows the forecast for precipitable water (PW) valid at 8 am tomorrow morning. Extremely dry conditions, with area-wide PW below 5 mm. This event will be nasty for allergy sufferers with dust and pollen blowing on the winds. It has been a miserable allergy season so far and here comes another round of suffering.
