View of Catalinas at 1 pm MST on 14 Jul 2013 - heavy storms sat right on Mt. Lemmon for a couple of hours and dropped 2.18 inches of rain.
In the longer term, the NAM forecasts abundant rainfall over southeastern Arizona during the next 54-hours - above is total rainfall forecast from noon today to 5 pm MST on Tuesday afternoon. Amounts are very impressive for this time of year. The NWS has gone with the model and issued a Flash Flood Watch valid from Monday evening through Tuesday evening (see weather story below - read "weak" as week). This is a somewhat gutsy move, since strange things can happen with strong, low-level downslope flow. Many of us still remember TS Nora as "No rain at all." We will watch to see what the southwestward moving cyclone will bring across the Continental Divide.
