Looks like a UFO over Finger Rock before sunrise this morning.
Has been very suppressed since the 5th of September, making the last 11 days the longest dry spell here at the house since June 23rd. Plot of detected CG flashes (above - from Atmo and Vaisala) for 24 hours ending at 0833 UTC shows some isolated flashes over the White Mountains. yesterday afternoon.
Very dry here this morning, as per 00z WRF-GFS PW field last evening (above). However, the same model run forecasts a surge of moisture northward all the way to Las Vegas by 5:00 pm MST tomorrow (below).
The model run also forecasts storms to develop over Pima County tomorrow afternoon (radar echoes above forecast for 5:00 pm MST tomorrow afternoon. Given how dry it is today, forecast seems a bit optimistic. Precipitation forecast (below, still from 00 UTC WRF-GFS) keeps the higher rain amounts out to west of the metro area. Will be interesting to see how things have changed by tomorrow morning.
