Quite a bit of storm activity this afternoon (in spite of the very warm middle-level temperatures) and thunderstorm anvils are visible to the distant northeast. Obviously, there was more boundary layer moisture available today than I thought there'd be. Perhaps some local recycling of high country moisture has been helping things? There is also a strong push of Plains low-level moisture moving eastward across New Mexico. Surface chart above is for 0043Z on the 7th and the visible satellite image is from 0000Z on the 7th. Definitely a more active day than I'd expected. Down here at low elevations in the Sonoran Desert it is deadly hot and dry.
