Cristina Weakens Rapidly
Critstina weakened rapidly on Saturday and also has so far stayed just to south of 20 N. The once intense hurricane appears to be a remnant low now and may move slowly northward, well west of Baja. The two PW images above and below, from this Sunday morning, show that the very deep and moist air mass directly associated with Cristina has only made it about 1/3 of the way up the Gulf of California (GoC). Moisture amounts of about an inch or greater remain south of the border with a strong moisture gradient oriented west-to-east across Baja and northern Sonora. So, impacts from Cristina are appearing to be minimal, although it is interesting to have higher moisture so close at mid-June.
