Neighbors John and Jodi Ferner have a large clump (patch?) of night blooming cereus in their backyard. These cacti bloom during one night of the year and last night was the night, with almost 30 blooms opening during the evening. The flowers wither at dawn. I'm not sure of the variety of these, but they were quite spectacular. However, these are not the native Sonoran Desert variety, which look like dead sticks most of the year, before they do their thing. Bats and Spinx moths are the primary pollinator for these unusual cacti.
