Scattered Light Showers

Clouds hanging on the Catalinas at a bit before 6:00 am MST this morning.

Plot of detected CG flashes for 24-hours ending at 1053z early this morning (above from Atmo and Vaisala) shows a donut hole over much of eastern Pima County.

Plots of rainfall reports from the ALERT network for 24-hours ending 6:00 am this morning (above and below) also show only a few light reports over parts of the metro area. Here at the house we had no rain and some light evening breezes.

At 500 mb this morning (above from SPC) there is an east-to-west, weak trough moving northward across northern Sonora. There is also an old MCV out west of Tucson. The morning sounding (also from SPC - below) shows considerable CAPE below 700 mb with steering level winds from the southeast at 15 to 20 kts.

The 12 UTC forecast from the WRF-HRRR run at Atmo (above) indicates a nice cluster of storms over the metro area through midnight tonight. The current NWS forecast for the airport is shown below.
