High POPs Today and Tomorrow

Pre-sunrise view at 5:26 am MST this morning, looking toward Redington Pass.

Scattered thunderstorms in Pima County yesterday afternoon and night, as per plot of detected CG flashes through 03:03 am this morning (above from Atmo and Vaisala). Rain occurred at a few ALERT sites (below - for 24-hours ending at 7:30 am this morning). Storm activity on the Rincons produced an outflow that moved westward across the city - light blue arc on radar image (second below - airport gusted to 31 mph when this feature passed).

The morning sounding for TWC/TUS (above) is very moist with PW value of 1.70 inches - up almost an inch from yesterday. There is some CAPE also likely this afternoon. The 12 UTC run of the WRF-RR at Atmo forecasts significant radar echoes across eastern Pima Count at 6:30 pm this afternoon (below).

The same run predicts some heavy rain amounts around the metro area - above. The morning forecast from the NWS is shown below. Should be an interesting two days.
