Start Of Fall

Skies this morning showing just a wisp of clouds over the Catalinas.

Today is the first day of meteorological Fall (September, October, and November). I will work up summaries for August and for the summer and post those tomorrow.

Another storm-free day for most of Arizona yesterday, as per the plot above of detected CG flashes (from Atmo and Vaisala) through 0803 UTC this morning.

The morning 500 mb analysis (above) shows the inverted trough from Baja across Sonora and into southwestern New Mexico. This feature will move west along the Borderlands today and tomorrow bringing slight chances for showers, along with gusty east winds.

The 12 UTC forecast below (from the WRF-RR run at Atmo) shows rainfall through midnight tomorrow night, with nothing indicated for southeastern Arizona.
