Few clouds over the Catalinas this morning, after last evening's showers. Plot of CG flashes for 24 hours ending a bit after midnight last night (below, from Atmo and Vaisala) - thunderstorms stayed mostly to the southeast of metro area, although we had thunder here, as did the airport and DM.
Looks like about half the ALERT sites had 0.04" or a bit more, with heavier amounts south of Green Valley. ALERT amounts for 24-hours ending at 7:00 am MST this morning. We had evening showers here with 0.06" - this brings first week in July total up to exactly 1 inch.
The 500 mb anticyclone center has shifted into southwest Utah this morning (above). Temperatures within southeast part of the circulation are very warm (-3 to -5 C).
Morning sounding at TWC/TUS pretty ugly again this morning - will be hard to get storms at low elevations. Steering flow has become easterly and fairly strong in mid-levels. Storms on Catalinas this evening will tend to head off toward Oro Valley and Marana.
