Going Downhill Next Few Days

This was as active as it got over the Catalinas yesterday, as thunderstorms stayed off to the south.

Detected CG flashes plot, above (from Atmo and Vaisala) for 24-hours ending at 1:00 am MST last night, shows storms yesterday were again mostly over the mountains. The snip below from ALERT data for 24-hours ending at 7:00 am shows the only 5 reports that occurred within the network.

Drier and more stable air is creeping in from the west and diminishing the chances of thunderstorms for next several days. Last night's WRF forecasts indicate mostly dry conditions through the 5th, except for southeast Cochise County.

Hurricane Barbara has intensified rapidly during the night (IR image below from 13 UTC this morning) and has winds of at least 130 mph currently - this makes the storm a Cat. 4 hurricane. Barbara continues to move westward away from the continent.
